Astronomy Science ~ Below is a list of 5 of the biggest stars known today. The unit of measurement used is the radius of the Sun (approximately 695 500 kilometers or 432 450 miles).

Here's the list:

5. Westerlund 1-26 (Fifth Biggest Star)

Westerlund 1-26 (pronounced "Westerlund 1, the star 26) is a red supergiant or hypergiant star located on the outskirts of the super cluster Westerlund 1. This star has a radius of about 1,530 times greater than the radius of the Sun, or about 1.06488 billion kilometers (661 685 755 miles / 7 AU). If it is placed in the center of the Solar System, its photosphere would engulf the orbit of Jupiter.

Westerlund 1-26 has a brightness of 380,000 times brighter than the Sun with a surface temperature of about 3000 K.

This star is 16,500 light-years away in the Ara constellation.

4. Woh G64 (Fourth Biggest Star)

Woh G64 is a red giant star located in our neighbor, the Large Magellanic Cloud. With a radius of 1.540 times the radius of the Sun, or about 1.07 billion kilometers (7:14 AU). Woh G64 is one of the largest known star and the largest known in the LMC. If we replace the Sun with this star, then the star's surface will swallow Jupiter.

Masa is estimated to be approximately 16-22 times greater than the mass of our sun. The star's surface temperature at about 3,400 kelvin.

This star is 168,000 light-years away in the Dorado (LMC) constellation.

3. PZ Cassiopeiae (Third Largest Star)

Cassiopeiae PZ (PZ Cas) is a red supergiant star located in the constellation Cassiopeia. This star has a radius of about 1.565 times the radius of the sun. This star is 9,160 light years (2.81 kiloparsecs) and has a luminosity between 240,000 and 270,000 times the sunlight. Initial mass of this star is estimated to 25 times greater than the mass of the sun. With this value, a star similar to PZ Cassiopeiae hypergiant star VY Canis Majoris.

2. NML Cygni (Second Biggest Star)

NML Cygni or V1489 Cygni is a red hypergiant star and one of the biggest stars are currently known with a radius of about 1.650 times the Sun, or about 7.67 astronomical units (2.295 billion kilometers). If the star is placed sun in the Solar System, its surface would extend beyond the orbit of Jupiter, filling more than half the distance between the orbits of Jupiter and Saturn.

NML Cygni has a mass about 25-40 times the mass of the Sun with a brightness of about 270,000. This star is about 5,300 light years from Earth in the constellation Cygnus.

1. UY Scuti (The Biggest Current Found)

UY Scuti is red giant stars within 9,500 light-years away in the Scutum constellation. This is the largest known star with a radius of about 1,708 radius of the Sun, or about 2,378,704,272 km (1,478,914,185.73 miles; 15.9 AU). If placed in the center of the Solar System, this star likely would extend beyond the orbit of Saturn. This is due to the size of the stars is not known with certainty. Light takes about 9.15 hours to cross the circumference.

UY Scuti has 340,000 brightness of the sun and a temperature of about 3,365 kelvin. This star mass of about 32 times the mass of our sun.

That's 5 biggest stars which are currently found. If our Sun were placed next to the star, the Sun will look like dust that is very small. It is reiterated that how little we are in this universe than our ego enormous.
