Astronomy Science ~ Signal Wow! is detected by the radio signaling Dr. Jerry R. Ehman on August 15, 1977, while working in a SETI project at the Big Ear radio telescope at Ohio State University. This signal could potentially come from outside the solar system. This signal lasts for 72 seconds, subsequently no longer detected. Signal Wow! soon became the center of media attention because they may contain instructions existence of intelligent extraterrestrial beings.
Amazed at how close this signal with the expected sign of the interstellar signal in the antenna used, Ehman circled the signal on the computer printout and wrote the comment "Wow!" on its side. This comment became the name of the signal.
