Astronomy Science ~ Astronomers have observed flare of the largest X-rays ever detected by a supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way. This event, which is detected by the Chandra X-ray Observatory of NASA, the question of how our galaxy arises.

Supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy, known as Sagittarius A * or Sgr A *, is estimated to contain about 4.5 million times the mass of our sun. Astronomers have made the unexpected discovery using Chandra to observe Sgr A * react to nearby gas clouds called G2.

"Unfortunately, the G2 cloud of gas produced, a fireworks" where you expect to happen when approached by Sgr A *, "said lead researcher Daryl Haggard from Amherst College in Massachusetts. "But nature often surprises us and see something else that is very interesting."

September 14, 2013, Haggard and his team detected X-ray flares from Sgr A * 400 times brighter than normal. Megaflare is almost three times brighter than the light of the previous X-ray flares from Sgr A * in early 2012.

After Sgr A * quiet, behind Chandra X-ray flares observed some very large, 200 times brighter than usual October 20, 2014. Astronomers estimate that the G2 closer to the black hole in the spring of 2014, to 15 billion kilometers. Chandra observed flares in September 2013 is about a hundred times closer to the black hole, making it impossible associated with G2.

The first is an asteroid gets too close supermassive black holes and torn by gravity. The remains of the tidal disruption of gravity as it can be very hot and produces X-rays before disappearing never to the point where we can not go back, or event horizon.

"If the asteroid was torn debris surrounding a black hole for a few hours - as a gutter around the hole before the fall," said Fred Baganoff the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts. "And the X-rays generated by these ancient events exactly light X-ray flare old found last, so it's an interesting idea for us to consider." If the theory is true, it means that astronomers may have found evidence of the largest asteroids that produces X-ray flares observed after torn Sgr A *.

The second theory is that the magnetic field lines to the gas flowing Sgr A * can be dense and tangled. These field lines reconfigure and produce a bright burst of X-rays sometimes. This type of magnetic eruptions seen in the sun, and flares Sgr A * has the same intensity pattern. "The fact is that astronomers still considering making giant flares from Sgr A *," said co-author Gabriele Ponti, the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics in Garching, Germany.

"The rare and extreme events like this gives us a unique opportunity to understand the physics of one of the strangest objects in our galaxy."
