Astronomy Science ~ Breakthrough, Indian Mars Orbiter Mission (Mom) re-send stunning images, reveal a very large canyons and moon Phobos in the orbit of Mars. Itself spacecraft entered orbit around Mars in September 2014 and continues to carry out its mission until now.

Volcanic deposits can be seen on the flanks of the mountain in the picture, which is mapped from an altitude of 6,653 miles (10,707km) and has a resolution of 1..824 feet (556 meters) per pixel. Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter instrument (MOLA) on the spacecraft was used to help map the topography of Mars.

A more spectacular image shows Phobos, one of the two moons orbiting Mars (the other being Deimos). Although Phobos is the largest moon of the two moons of Mars, he just has great about 14 miles (22km) and complete the Mars orbit the Earth once every seven hours.

The image was taken using the Mars Color Camera (MCC) which weighs 1.3kg and is used to look at the surface of Mars and its moons. On display are closer to the surface, MCC capture images giant Valles Marineris canyon (one the largest gorge in the Solar System), which includes the length of 2,500 miles (4,000 km)

The image was taken from an altitude of 15,000 miles (24,000km), with a resolution of about 0.7 miles (1.2 km) per pixel. Most of the canyon known as the Eos Chaos was also observed by the spacecraft, reveal patterns of cracks in the surface. The images of these surfaces could help scientists understand the geological processes that occur on Mars on a local scale.
